On Wednesday, October 6, some Nkoranza residents assaulted a 21-year-old man in the Bono East Region for allegedly engaging in homosexual activity, a report on myjoyonline.com indicates
In an amateur video, youth from the town are seen beating the man, identified as Yaw Barima, in a room where he is alleged to have committed the act.
On Friday, they stormed the premises and whisked him away to the palace.
The agitated group insisted that the alleged act violates a directive issued by the traditional area’s Queen Mother, Nana Yaa Dudaa Kani I, which condemns the activities of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and Transgender people, among others.
The 21-year-old was forced to kneel at the palace while incantations were chanted over him.
After questioning him, the elders of the area oversaw the performance of purification rites.
They claim that doing so will persuade the gods to ward off any bad omens that may arise as a result of the incident.
A sheep was slaughtered and a libation was poured as part of the ritual.
