A man has been shot dead by robbers in Amanful, a suburb of Takoradi in the Western Region. The man who is yet to be identified is reported to be chauffeuring the wife through the city when robbers on a motorcycle stopped them and robbed them of their money and personal belongings.
The wife was threatened with a gun while the robbery continued. Such crimes had been practically extinct since DCOP Kofi Boakye’s administration in Sekondi-Takoradi at the Police Service. Over the past weeks, there have been on the ascendency robberies and petty thefts in the capital and at neighboring communities.
No arrests have been made since, and this had caused residents of Sekondi-Takoradi to be apprehensive about the state of insecurity in the area.
Just last Friday, a mobile money agent, Joseph Amoah was robbed at gunpoint in his temporary store at Ahinkofi.
Some had argued that the attacks are not sporadic by organized given the modus of Operandi by these robbers. All these robbery cases were executed with a motorcycle.
No facial recognition has been taken to assist the police in their investigations. The victims of these robbery attacks all ended up with gun wounds.
It is expected that the Western Regional Commander for the Ghana Police Service, and the Head of Regional Security; the Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah would address this issue urgently before things get out of hand.
