Dale Poppleton: Police warn public not to approach man missing half an ear as he is hunted for serious offence

Dale Poppleton: Police warn public not to approach man missing half an ear as he is hunted for serious offence

In connection with a’serious offence,’ police are looking for a distinct man who only has half of his right ear.

The public has been warned not to approach Dale Poppleton, 41, of Bradford, West Yorkshire, who is wanted by authorities and is known to have connections throughout the north of England.

Poppleton can be easily identified, according to West Yorkshire Police, because he only has ‘half an ear’ on his right side.

Poppleton was labeled a “accomplished criminal” after being sentenced to three years and nine months in prison for burglary in 2020.

During the trial, Bradford Crown Court heard how Poppleton had 19 previous convictions for 99 offenses, many of which were for dishonesty.

He is described as white, medium build and 6ft1 tall.

Extensive enquiries have been carried out to locate Poppleton and anyone who sees him is asked to not approach but call police immediately on 999 or 101.

West Yorkshire Police said: ‘He is very distinctive due to the fact that he has half an ear (right side).

‘He is thought to have connections to not only the Bradford area but the North of England. He was last seen in East Yorkshire.

‘Extensive enquiries have been carried out to locate Poppleton but he is deliberately evading Police.’

Many jokesters responded to the police appeal with ear-themed comments.

One person inquired whether the authorities had searched Mike Tyson’s home after he famously bit Evander Holyfield’s ear off during a boxing match in June 1997.

Another person said: ‘He was right ear a minute ago’, while one jokester said: ‘We have a cat like that round me, he’s always in a scuffle, one day he got too big for his boots. However, that is neither here nor there.’

‘This appeal will fall on deaf ears,’ said a third (s). If you catch him, give him an earful.’
