Tributes are being paid to Damien

Condolences have been sent to Damien’s heartbroken family and friends in lieu of tributes.

A relative, who didn’t want to be named, told the Irish Examiner: “He was a very nice guy, nobody could have anything bad to say about him.

“He was quiet, respectful, and a good bit of craic as well. We’re all in shock.”

It is understood Damien worked in the hospitality sector before moving to Australia ten years ago.

Chifley Police District said in a statement that a man was “arrested after the body of a second man was located at a home in the Central Tablelands”.

They added: “Officers from Chifley Police District were called to Jenolan Street shortly after 8am where they found the body of a man suffering a gunshot wound.

“He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics however, he died at the scene.

“The man is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 30s.

“A 57-year-old man was arrested at the house and taken to Bathurst Police Station to assist with inquiries.

“A crime scene was established, which will be examined by specialist forensic police, and a firearm has been seized for further examination.

“Initial inquiries suggest the two men were known to each other.”

Elsewhere, a murder probe into the death of an Irish priest in Texas 40 years ago has been reopened.

Father Patrick Ryan of Doon, Co Limerick, was discovered dead in Odessa in December 1981.

Odessa Police Department reopened the investigation.
