David Jason is a British actor born on February 2, 1940, in Edmonton, London, England. He is best known for his work on television, particularly his roles in the British sitcoms “Only Fools and Horses” and “Open All Hours”.

Jason began his acting career in the 1960s, with appearances in a number of British television shows, including “Z-Cars” and “Softly Softly”.

In the 1970s, he appeared in several sitcoms, including “Porridge” and “The Goodies”, before landing his breakthrough role in “Open All Hours” in 1976. He played the role of Granville, the put-upon nephew of a miserly shopkeeper, in the series which ran until 1985.

Jason’s most famous role, however, came in the 1980s with “Only Fools and Horses”.

He played the character of Del Boy, a cockney wheeler-dealer with big dreams and questionable business practices. The show ran from 1981 to 2003, with several special episodes airing in the years since.

In addition to his television work, Jason has also appeared in a number of films, including “The BFG” (1989), “White Hunter Black Heart” (1990), and “The Wind in the Willows” (1996).

He has also lent his voice to several animated films and television series, including “Danger Mouse” and “The Adventures of Paddington Bear”.

Jason has been awarded several honors for his contributions to British television, including a knighthood in 2005.
