A US journalist incurred the wrath of Ghanaians on social media for looking down on Ghana’s 4x100m relay team after they qualified for the relay finals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Shalise Manza Young’s disparaging tweet right in the middle of the celebration of Ghanaians to see the 4x100m relay team for the finals for the first time since 1996 was not left to slide.
According to Shalise Manza Young, the Yahoo Sports journalist, the US lost to a mere Ghana. He looked down on Ghana’s 4x100m relay team and expressed disgust.
“They lost to Ghana, y’all. GHANA,” her tweet said.
Shalise Manza Young was communicating that the US shouldn’t have missed out on the 4x100m relay by gettineg beaten by Ghana, a small mean country in her estimation.
Ghanaians felt offended by her post and went at her. The replies and counter-reactions she got really threw her off guard.
