Jackson Mahomes, the brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was arrested Wednesday on an aggravated sexual violence charge arising from an incident in a Kansas restaurant in February, according to jail records.
Mahomes, 22, was arrested at roughly 7:42 a.m. local time and brought into the Johnson County Jail.
He was being held in jail on a $100,000 bond. He was arraigned on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., posted bond, and was freed.
The judge set the next hearing for May 11th. He is not permitted to discuss his case publicly under the terms of his release.
The TikTok celebrity was investigated in February for reportedly pushing a waiter and forcibly kissing the female owner of an Overland Park restaurant.
Aspen Vaughn, the restaurant’s owner, claimed the Kansas City Star that Mahomes grabbed her by the throat and kissed her at least twice.
“He forcibly kissed me out of nowhere,” Vaughn said, “and I’m telling him, pushing him off saying, ‘What are you doing?’ and then he proceeded to do it two more times, where the last time I was pushing him off, and I can see on the cameras that somebody was outside the office door, and I was yelling for them to come help, because he’s big and massive.”
A lawyer for Mahomes denied the allegations in March.
“Jackson has done nothing wrong,” attorney Brandan Davies said. “Our investigation has revealed substantial evidence refuting the claims of Jackson’s accuser, including the statements of several witnesses.
We have reached out to law enforcement to provide the fruit of our investigation so that they may have a complete picture of the matter.”
Davies stated on Wednesday that the court had prevented him and his client from speaking.
Brittany Mahomes, Jackson’s sister-in-law, came to his rescue in April.
“They are ignorant,” she stated of those who criticize Jackson. “He is a human just trying to live his life and find his way, and you have no right to say s— about him until you walk a day in his shoes (which no one will ever do).”
She continued, “So it’s best to just shut up.”
