A middle-aged woman was robbed at knife-point of a sum of GHC 10,000 at Dichemso, near the popular hub for commercial sex workers and other miscreants, Plaza Hotel in the Kumasi Metropolis this dawn.
The woman who was sighted seated on the pavement and sobbing bitterly around 5 am said the money was intended to settle the debt out of court litigation involving her old mother and her tenant.
According to her, she was on her way to Abrepo Junction, another suburb of Kumasi to board a Metro Mass bus to her hometown in the Northern region, to offset part of the cost of GHC 30,000 awarded against her mother by the court when the incident happened.
The money was snatched alongside a bag containing all the court documents and her national ID cards.
She said after alighting from the taxi from Moshie Zongo at Dichemso, three persons pulled up on her and forcibly strangled her, threatening to stab her if she refused to hand over her bag containing the money.
Many residents of Dichemso who spoke with MyNewsGh.com reporters say armed attacks have become rampant in the community in recent months.
Police in the area confirmed the incident but disclosed that investigations have since commenced into the incident
