Mitch McConnell Wife: Meet Elaine Chao

Mitch McConnell is a prominent American politician who has served as a United States Senator from Kentucky since 1985.

He is a member of the Republican Party and has held numerous leadership positions in the Senate, including serving as the Senate Majority Leader from 2015 to 2021 and the Senate Minority Leader since January 2021.

Throughout his career, McConnell has been known for his conservative views and his expertise in legislative strategy.

He has been a leading voice in shaping conservative policies and has been instrumental in the passage of major pieces of legislation, including the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 and the CARES Act in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Outside of his political career, McConnell is also a lawyer and served as a judge-executive of Jefferson County, Kentucky before being elected to the Senate.

Mitch McConnell Wife: Meet Elaine Chao

Mitch McConnell’s wife is Elaine Chao. She is a former Secretary of Labor under President George W. Bush and former Secretary of Transportation under President Donald Trump. Chao was the first Asian-American woman to hold a Cabinet-level position in U.S. history.

Chao was born in Taiwan and immigrated to the United States with her family when she was eight years old. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a degree in economics and then earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.

McConnell and Chao married in 1993 and have been together since. As mentioned earlier, Chao’s family owns the Foremost Group, a shipping company based in New York.

Chao has recused herself from matters related to the company during her time in public service to avoid any potential conflicts of interest.
