Stonebwoy, a Ghanaian dancehall singer, has explained why the Nigerian music industry is ahead of the Ghanaian music industry on the international stage.
Stonebwoy, who has a great relationship with Nigerian acts, said in an interview with Breakfast Club Show in America that the success of Nigerian musicians is due to their country’s large population.
The high population of Nigeria, according to Stonebwoy, helps the industry. The singer also stated that Nigerian acts are tenacious, aggressive, hardworking, and have a winning mindset. Stonebwoy, on the other hand, stated that both countries inspire each other, which enhances their individual growth.
Stonebwoy also praised our local musicians for doing their best despite lacking the support and financial muscle that Nigerians have.
“It’s just recently that some of our musicians had distribution deals with Sony and Universal music. Our local musicians are working hard, and I believe that with them, they will be able to rub shoulders with their Nigerian colleagues in the music industry.” He stated this.
“Interestingly, every one of their top listers finds inspiration in Ghana,” Stonebwoy added. Burna often says that Wizkid literally lives in Ghana, and Davido is like a brother who is always there for him. We can’t all be in the front seat because we’re all playing our individual roles out there.”
On Tuesday, the popular Reggae/Dancehall artist made his Power FM debut on the popular Breakfast Club show.
The award-winning musician discussed the evolution of the Afrobeat genre, its impact in Africa, and other yet-to-be-explored musical genres on the continent.
The singer also discussed his career, a near-fatal accident, his feud with Shatta Wale, and other interesting topics.
