The war against galamsey is peaking. Many have bombarded the President Akufo-Addo for not having the nerves to crack the whip on illegal small miners. In his first term in office, Akufo-Addo promised to put his office on the line but this failed to work.
The zeal to fight has been intensified especially with the appointment of Samuel Jinapor as Lands and Minerals minister. In a renewed fight the president has today, Wednesday, April 28, 2021 given authorization to the Ghana Armed Forces to launch an offensive to remove all small scale miners from River Pra in the Central and Western Regions. The swoop started today and it involves about 200 armed men.
An update is expected on Friday as to the progress made after the operation started today. it is yet to be seen if this new offensive will yield results. Many feel people at the presidency are involved in the illegal mining and are sabotaging the fight. Interesting times ahead as Akufo-Addo renews his fight.

Will the new zeal against galamsey yield results?
