Tyus Jones is a professional basketball player from the United States who was born on May 10, 1996, in Burnsville, Minnesota. He is currently a point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA.
Before entering the NBA, Jones played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils from 2014-2015. In his freshman year, he helped lead Duke to the NCAA championship and was named the Final Four Most Outstanding Player.
He also earned All-ACC second-team honors and was a member of the ACC All-Freshman team.
Jones declared for the NBA draft after his freshman year and was selected with the 24th overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2015.
He was immediately traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he spent the first three seasons of his NBA career.
During his time with the Timberwolves, Jones primarily served as a backup point guard, playing behind Ricky Rubio and later Jeff Teague.
He had several standout performances during his time in Minnesota, including a 15-point, 10-assist double-double in a win over the Phoenix Suns in 2017.
In 2019, Jones was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, where he has continued to serve as a backup point guard.
