Around 10 p.m. yesterday, sad news on social media confirmed the death of award-winning South African rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, better known professionally as AKA.
The tragic incident is said to have occurred in front of YUGO nightclub in Stamford Hill, Durban (South Africa), where he was scheduled to perform yesterday as part of his 35th birthday celebration.
AKA is said to have been standing outside the nightclub when he was killed in a drive-by shooting.
Amidst the sad news, new rumors which are currently making rounds on social media allege that the rapper was killed on purpose.
It’s widely assumed that the AKA was murdered in retaliation for the tragic death of his fiancee, Anele Tembe.
Anele Tembe, AKA’s fiancée, died in April 2021 after falling from her hotel room in a Cape Town hotel.
AKA had been warned about a dragon on the outskirts of town, but he refused to believe it. He even shared his current location with his friends.
He wanted to make a strong statement about how he was not afraid of the threats to his life, so he decided to celebrate his 35th birthday on enemy territory.
Anele’s wealthy father and family have not recovered from the death of their daughter Anele in 2021, which is widely suspected.
Because police investigations are still ongoing, this rumor has yet to be confirmed.
A video clip taken seconds after the rapper was shot went viral.
The rapper’s lifeless body is seen in the video dressed sharply in white sneakers and denim jeans.
